The new CompactRIO, FlexRIO and RIO Single-Board controller can help companies more quickly build smart industrial systems and intelligent machines

Instruments National (NI) as a provider of solutions to engineers and scientists to help them deal with the world's most severe engineering challenges, today announced the launch of a new embedded system based on open, flexible I/O LabVIEW (RIO) architecture. The hardware consists of the following three controllers: high performance CompactRIO controller, suitable for the need of the system is robust, environmental harsh industrial application field engineers and system integrators; FlexRIO controller, suitable for high performance embedded application design engineer; and RIO Single-Board controller, suitable for the need to improve the design of embedded application flexibility. These controllers are integrated with the latest embedded technology from Intel and Xilinx, designed to help system design engineers and machine developers respond to the most severe control and monitoring challenges. The controller is based on SELinux, which is supported by LabVIEW software, FPGA LabVIEW module and Linux Real-Time NI, which provides advanced security features for the application of industrial IOT.

With the industry (IIoT) is constantly affecting the connection, communication and optimization of intelligent systems, embedded engineers are faced with growing and changing connectivity, performance and security needs and reduce the cost of product launch time and reduce the pressure, NI's Smith Jamie LabVIEW RIO architecture provides a complete platform, allows engineers to quickly design, prototype verification and deployment of embedded systems to achieve high level monitoring and control applications."

In order to meet the changing needs of the industry, the NI platform integrates the intelligent system, all kinds of connection options and the communication function between the system. At the same time, it provides a professional analysis software tool to help users gain business insight and provide additional value for customers.

"LabVIEW's RIO NI architecture combines real-time processor, user programmable FPGA and modular I/O to provide us with the required performance and flexibility to develop sophisticated control systems for our smart agriculture machinery," said Aposhian Steve, President and chief engineer of Equipment FireFly, "we use LabVIEW to program all components of the control system, greatly accelerate the development progress, so that we can more quickly to provide innovative products for the market."

Main characteristics

High performance CompactRIO controller

Atom Intel processor: more quickly within the same controller to perform closed-loop control, to complete more tasks, while the CompactRIO controller within the quad core 1.91 GHz processor provides higher data processing accuracy, accuracy and speed.

FPGA: Kintex-7 performs on-line processing in more channels to achieve more sophisticated filtering and control algorithms.

Linux Real-Time: NI uses a secure, highly robust Linux based real-time 64 bit operating system to access a large Linux application and IP community.

Embedded user interface: the integration of local HMI and the use of control system to customize and handle HMI tasks, significantly reduce the cost of components and development and integration time.

Secure digital memory card: a way to customize the storage, management and access data.

FlexRIO controller

FPGA: Kintex-7 with more than 30 high performance I/O adapter module support, to achieve high-speed control algorithm and advanced signal processing.

Compact size: just a small amount of software can be quickly put on the prototype of the PXI on the 1.75 x 5.5 x 9.2.

Dual core ARM processor: simultaneous access to the independent operating system and the Linux Real-Time NI operating system.

Single-Board RIO controller

NI (SoC) based on Linux Real-Time Zynq (): the use of dual core 667 ARM MHz processor, FPGA Artix-7 and reliable real-time operating system to get higher performance.

Optimize your system: the use of a more flexible modular board for the industrial system to add more intelligent.

Code reuse: minimize the investment from the prototype to the deployment, through the expansion system to meet the changing needs of the application.
